Since I’ve been a bit MIA lately, I thought I would do a quick update about what’s been going on in my life recently.

1.  I’m now the proud owner of a pair of shiny adult braces…  Okay, I have a clear set so no shine but still.  Nothing says sexy like a mouth full of metal.  I’ve had them for a full two weeks now and I feel like I’m still getting used to them.  I was in pain for the first week and on a mostly liquids diet (and only manged to lose three pounds…  What the hell??!!).  I’m no longer in pain, but am still slow getting into foods I used to eat and constantly feel like there is too much going on in my mouth.  Only 102 more weeks to go!

2.  I start school in 17 days.  After going back and forth multiple times about whether or not I wanted to go back, I decided to go ahead, bite the bullet and do it.  I don’t really like my college (at all) and am still unsure as to what I want to be when I grow up…  Actually I know I want to be Donna (from the show Suits) when I grow up, but not sure what kind of major I need for that.  Here’s hoping school gets better and I can enjoy myself.

3.  Because I’m sticking with school I decided to stick with my job.  I try not to speak too openly about my feelings towards my job for a couple of reasons A)  I try to be grateful I have one in this economy and B) if anyone from my job were to read/hear my feelings, I would hate to risk losing said job.  However, I’m incredibly unhappy at this job.  There is a total lack of communication, no one that works there enjoys it, we are constantly working overtime and having our schedules changed at the last minute, oh and I break out in hives on a weekly (sometimes more often) basis thanks to this job.  Pretty sure that’s not a normal reaction.  But because it is third shift (another reason I dislike said job) it makes scheduling classes easier…  Attending not so much, but scheduling, yes.

4.  I’ve recently been shopping…  Like, a lot.  Maybe too much?  I keep telling myself I’m just preparing for fall and getting my wardrobe in order.  And I do make sure bills are paid first but I’m trying to do more adult things.  Things such as get a legitimate savings account going, not just $30 that I keep moving into my checking account.  Making a budget (and sticking to it).  And the big one, attempt to save for my own place.  I’m not talking buy a house, I’m nowhere near that, but a cute little apartment of my own would be beyond an amazing blessing.  Right now, I can’t so much afford that.  But I’m working towards it.  One step at a time.

I do believe that’s the majority of the updates from me.  Pretty sad that I’ve been gone so long and that’s it…  Hopefully my life picks up along with my school schedule in a few weeks.

Enjoy your weekend!  Go out and have a cold brewski 🙂

Hi Everyone!!  I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving and were able to spend the time with the people you love.  And for those of you not in the US…  I hope you had a nice Thursday 🙂  Today I wanted to talk about three different topics and all of them begin with the letter B so I decided to combine them into one post.

Boots – I bought some boots online yesterday (more proof that I LOVE shoes).  These were some boots that I’ve wanted for a long time to replace an old pair that are literally falling apart on me.  But I wanted a good pair, and that means saving up some money.  Unless you shop after Thanksgiving.  I got the pair below in black.  Normally they are $90 and I got them for only $24.  Um..  Yes!!

Boots from Kohls – in Black

Black Friday – I went Black Friday shopping today.  It was only my third time going but this was my best ever.  My first year I just went with family.  I didn’t buy anything, just wanted to experience it.  Last year I went and just bought myself presents because I was shopping with all the people I needed to buy for.  This year, I still bought myself a couple items but for the most part got almost all of my Christmas shopping done!!  And I saved SO much money I was shocked.  I got two different sweaters for my brother.  Both sweaters were normally $50 each and I only had to spend $20 each.  And that was just a small portion of what I got.  I hope my family and friends are cool with receiving clothes because that’s the majority of what I bought; someone’s got to dress these people.  🙂  I wish we had one more Black Friday event so that I could finish the shopping I need and save even more money.  Black Friday is a fantastic event in my opinion.

Ok, mine was much less crazy than this… Kind of boring actually.

Speaking of Black Friday, my boutique (Quiet Girl Boutique) is having a huge Black Friday sale with items up to 50% off.  So if you still want to take advantage of sales but are over the crowds or if you live somewhere that Black Friday may not be a thing, come and check out our deals here!  Don’t forget to enter the giveaway for a $15 off a $30 purchase at Quiet Girl Boutique.  You still have 2 days left!! a Rafflecopter giveaway

Quiet Girl Boutique Black Friday Sale

BB Creme – Have you all tried BB creme?  Am I just late to this party?  I’ve used primer before and liked this but recently decided to try this (aka:  Ulta had a sale so I picked some up) and Oh. My. Goodness.  I have never experienced anything like it!!  In a magazine advertisement it is described as this:

“so beautifying, hydrating, unbelievably light.  It’s instant bare perfection.”

Normally I would see something like that say, “yeah right” and go on about my day.  But they are not lying.  The first time I used it, I washed my face and put this on before my makeup.  I hadn’t even put on a drop of makeup and my skin looked better than I have ever seen it look.  After my makeup, I almost didn’t recognize myself (in a good way)!  My skin had a glow that I always wish I could get and it gave me so much added confidence and self-esteem that I would have paid more than the $6-8 I paid (I don’t actually remember how much it cost).  This will definitely be an item forever in my daily routine!

This little tube is full of magic!!

What about you?  Did you Black Friday shop or are you a believer in the BB creme magic?

PS:  I made a pie yesterday and will be blogging about it later, complete with pictures!!

I love, love, love jewelry!  It is my favorite part of any outfit.  You can wear one dress and take it casual or formal depending on your jewelry and accessories.  No matter if you’ve gained 5 pounds indulging in holiday sweets or lost 10 pounds by working hard, your favorite necklace will still fit.  Because I love jewelry so much, I’ve always wanted to sell it some way.

However, I don’t have the time right now to devote to making my own jewelry (something I would like to try and accomplish in the future) and I don’t have the money to sign up as a consultant for Stella & Dot or Premier Designs.  Plus I don’t exactly have the time to devote to those either with parties, outreach, entering orders and all the other little aspects that add up in a small business of that type.  So I had put my jewelry business dreams on hold…  Until now!

I was recently introduced to Kitsy Lane.  An online community of jewelry boutiques owned by people like you and me.  After doing some research and discovering that this was a completely risk free way to sell jewelry to friends, family and complete strangers I decided to open my own boutique, Quiet Girl Boutique.

I came up with the name of my boutique based on the nickname I was given this past weekend while on my trip to South Carolina, Quiet Girl.  The more I thought about it, the more I loved it!  I am a quiet person and I don’t always have the words to say, however I have had many people start conversations based on the jewelry that I am wearing.  I like attention getting pieces that can give people a glimpse into your personality before they even introduce themselves to you.  So Quiet Girl Boutique was born so that you could “let your jewelry do the talking for the quiet girl in you.”

All pieces are hand-picked by yours truly and we have weekly flash sales that mark down the already discounted pieces.  The jewelry offered is from both up and coming designers as well as more well known designers.  The shop is still in the very beginning stages so will be changing and adding more inventory over the next days and weeks but I invite you to come, check it out and do a little shopping.

If you are like me (and most fashion bloggers) you probably enjoy a good shopping spree. I know spending the day at the mall and coming home with bags is a great way to spend an afternoon in my opinion but if I can support a good cause while I’m at it, that makes it that much more enjoyable! And this is a great month to do it. Yes, the month is just about over so get to shopping!!

Unless you have been living under a rock, you probably know that October is breast cancer awareness month. Whether you watch sports and see the NFL players sporting pink equipment, Dancing with the Stars and hear Tony Dovolani talk about wearing pink in honor of this month, or just walk through a grocery store with a very pink display in the middle of the aisle, you have probably seen the pink display in honor of this month.

So what are some of the things you can get that go towards breast cancer research? One of my favorite beauty stores, Ulta, has a ton of specials going on right now. When you check out, you can donate and get things back with your purchase. With a $1 donation, you are entered to win a beauty bag. Give $5 and receive a pink water tumbler or a fashion tote. $10 and you can get a pink kisses umbrella! For more information about the Ulta “donate with a kiss” program, head here.

Do you like jewelry? Stella & Dot is currently hosting a sale with all net proceeds going to fight for a cure. There are five items (two are currently sold out though) and all of them are absolutely adorable!! I especially love the Hope bracelet, below. Are you interested in checking out the items they have? Go here and see for yourself.

There are really so many places that you can find to shop for a cure, either in your local town or online. I did a quick google search for “shopping for a cause, october” and it came back with pages and pages of companies and products that all give back to the cause. So if you want to do a little guilt-free shopping and put some good karma out there, get to shopping. You only have a few days left!

You’ve heard the saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” yes?  Well this post has nothing to do with doctors.  But if I needed to have an apple a day, I would love to be able to choose from these apples:  Shabby Apple.  The clothes on this site are beautiful and I would happily indulge in one a day for my overall health.  I feel like the clothes offered here are all vintage-y with a modern twist.

If you haven’t checked out this site and what they have to offer, you totally should!  They offer everything from tops and skirts to dresses and swimwear and even have a maternity line.  They also offer accessories that include shoes, jewelry, bags, aprons and more.  Plus they have a section for the home meaning you can take the Shabby Apple look you love so much and apply it to your surroundings as well as your clothing.  They also offer style advice, call in customer service, free shipping on all returns and a “dress for your body type” link to know what will flatter your body most.

I love just about all of the items offered here but I think I found a favorite dress!  The I’m Late, I’m Late dress is absolutely gorgeous and I think I need it.  It is currently a pre-order item but it is definitely something I will be keeping my eye on.

If you find items you like and just have to add to your wardrobe, Shabby Apple is offering 10% off your entire order now until Sept. 14, 2012, all you have to do is enter the code:  favorite10 to get your discount.  So what are you waiting for??  Check them out now!  You can either click on the banner to the right of here —————————->  or click on this link to go to their page and start shopping.

(*I wrote this forever ago and just realized it never posted.  But since we are still in the early days of “back to school” I think it still fits*)

Hi Guys and Gals!!

I know, I know…  I said I was going to pull the plug on this blog.  But I just couldn’t do it!!  I feel like it is my baby and I just couldn’t end it after all.  During my little hiatus I realized that I actually enjoyed and missed blogging about my fashion thoughts.  So I’m back.

And just in time for What I Want Wednesday.  Today is a special “Back-to-School” edition.  Now, I realize that being in college I don’t necessarily need/get back to school clothes.  However, I was homeschooled until my sophomore year of high school and when you go to school in your pajamas it is really hard to convince the parentals to buy you new clothes.  So I am taking full advantage of that now.  Since I head back to school on Monday, here are some of the items I plan on adding to my back to school wardrobe.

The yellow sweater and denim shirt I found at Target and fell in love with them both!  I already have so many outfit ideas for both of them and they are a must add.

Khaki pants.  I don’t exactly love khaki pants but I don’t own a pair and I do think it is a good basic to have around.

The gold watch.  I have posted before about wanting a watch like this.  Originally I wanted a Michael Kors watch and the one posted above is Coach.  I probably cannot afford name brand right now, but I did find one that is an inexpensive version that I will be putting on my wrist very soon.

I also talked about my wanting of the Sperry shoes and cannot wait to purchase a pair of those.  As well as a pair of tennis shoes.  I don’t know that I will get those exact shoes (or even that brand) but I want a pair of tennis shoes that aren’t for working out.  I want a cute, fashionable pair to wear while running around on campus.

There are a few other items I want to get from the campus bookstore and if I get those, I will post pictures.  That’s it for today.  Good luck to everyone going back to school in the upcoming weeks!  What are you wearing for your first day??

I found a new website that is kind of awesome and wanted to share.  It’s a bit like Pinterest in that you can save things you like (or fancy) to check out later.  But the best part of all??  You can buy the item that you fancy right then and there.  For instance, I “fancied” these shoes:

And am able to see the name of shoes (Polka Dot Pumps – perfect for the polka dot Fall 2012 trend), the brand (Bordello) and the price ($75 USD) plus add them to my cart and check out all from one site!  This is so easy it is probably going to prove to be dangerous.

But I still wanted to share so that we could all add to our shopping addictions together.

In other news, anyone seen the trailer for the movie “Pitch Perfect?”  It’s on my tv as I type this and I am so excited to go and see it!  You can bet I will be in theaters opening weekend.  Alright, so there’s my random thought for the night.

Check out Fancy and start online shopping like never before!

…  To be on time for once!!  Geeze, I missed What I Want Wednesday again.  But in my defense, my baby brother was performing in his very first stand up comedy show yesterday so I was busy all day getting things done so I could go and watch him.

So I’m a little late.  It doesn’t change the fact that I do still want every single one of these items.  I found them all while shopping this past weekend.  I almost purchased everything I am about to post here, but decided to hold back and wait a few days before buying everything.

Without further ado…

I want this skirt.  I will have to try it on because I have never worn a mini skirt before and the thought is really intimidating.  Who knows, maybe I will put this skirt on and absolutely hate it, but when I see it laying on the display in store, I LOVE it!

I also want this top.  I was very, very close to buying this over the weekend.  It was on the clearance $5 rack but I had a sneaky feeling it wasn’t supposed to be.  So before standing in line forever and then finding out it wasn’t on sale, I asked an employee if they could check.  It wasn’t, I put it back to buy at a later date and have not stopped thinking of it since.

This was the original blazer that I saw in the store.  I thought it was super cute and that it would look great over a light, summery dress for brunch or another fun moment like that.  After looking at it more on the website though I’m not sure.  This would be another one I have to try on; I don’t usually like cropped tops on myself.  I do definitely want a blazer though…  Maybe I could do this one instead.

The final item I am wanting today is a pair of fabulous red sunglasses from Fossil.  I can’t find any pictures of them online, so I guess that is even more reason to just buy them, so I can show you all how cute they are.  (Sunglasses are almost as bad an obsession as watches for me…  Speaking of watches, I found a watch I want too!)

Because the Charlotte Russe website isn’t allowing me to post the pictures of the items like I wanted, I posted links instead…  But because Polyvore is awesome, I’m able to create a look involving all of the above mentioned pieces.

A couple housekeeping tidbits before I go.  I am planning on doing an update to the blog this weekend, so keep an eye out for that as well as my thoughts on the latest episode of Project Runway.
Also, we are only 5 followers away from a giveaway!  So keep an eye out for that as well, hopefully there will be news on that very soon.

I have been woefully absent from posting on here lately; I am just awful.  I feel like I have so much going on and so much to update but I will do it a little bit at a time, so that I can make up for the lack of posts with an abundance of posts to come.  I have some items ready for my “What I Want Wednesday,” I went shopping today and got some too cute items that I want to share, and I am sitting down right now to watch the season 10 premier of Project Runway and I am very excited to share my feelings towards that as well.

I will say that I am very excited for Project Runway!  I was just recently given a sewing machine and am hoping to maybe get some inspiration from watching the show and be able to make some pieces myself as well…  First I should probably learn how to even use the dang machine though!

So sorry for the absence but I promise I am back and ready to go!
